James River - Glasgow To Snowden (Balcony Falls)
The Balcony Falls run on the James is a great beginner/easy intermediate run. It is technically mostly class II with one class II/III, but with the low water levels, Balcony Falls (the II/III rapid for which the run is named) should be a solid II. The water is still somewhat low, but is totally still paddle-able and will be as beautiful as ever. Personally, I’m just excited to get back on the water!
You don’t need a solid roll, but some experience rolling and kayaking in general is definitely preferable.
You bring: food, water, $ for food at the end if you want, bathing suit, river-suitable shoes.
Club provides: any and all kayaking gear you need (boat, paddle, life jacket, helmet, skirt).
Let’s meet at Bonnycastle Circle at 3:45 (subject to change depending on what gear we need to get) and make sure all of the gear fits and then roll out. I’m hoping we should be back in Cville by 10, but that will vary depending on how fast we paddle. The number of attendes is set at 4 right now, but this should increase to 8 as more cars sign up.
