Beginner-Intermediate White Water Kayaking

OVERVIEW

Its time for you newbie paddlers to put your skills to the test, or for you beginners-intermediates to practice your skills. We’ll find an intermediate stretch of white water at low level and run it. Most likely the Balcony Falls run on the middle James. Usually a class 2-3 run, is running class 1-2 with one class 3 drop – Balcony Falls! We’ll find plenty of places to learn/work on such river skills as river reading, rapid running, eddy hopping, ferrying, and perhaps some play moves like surfing, spinning, and squirting.

To be qualified for this trip you must have taken the intro class with me or have similar experience. Note: you do not need to have prior river experience or know how to roll. If the trip is full, sign up anyway and I may be able to expand the trip.

If people are interested we can go to Todd’s Barbecue (a fantastic post adventure place) on the way home in beautiful Buena Vista.

The Club provides: Boats, paddles, skirts, pfds, helmets, nose plugs

You should bring: water, snacks, swimwear, footwear that can get wet, towel, change of clothes, $$ for dinner.
