Beginner-Intermediate White Water Kayaking – Moorman’s River

OVERVIEW

The Moorman’s River rarely runs this time of year. This swift, shallow creek-like river comes up after heavy rain fall (YAY! rain!!), then quickly drops, so should be at a fun level tomorrow afternoon if the forecast holds.

To go on this trip, you should have some river experience, but it is not required. The only requirement is that you have taken the intro class with me or have similar experience in a white water kayak.

There are mostly class 2 rapids with 1 class 3 at high water. We’ll practice running rapids, and spend some time working on ferrying and eddy hopping.

Please be prompt at my house so that we can get on the road. Though its only ~10 miles outside of town, we want to maximize our time on the water. Wear layers if you are afraid of getting cold – we may be paddling in the rain.

This river comes and goes very quickly, so get on it while you can!

The Club Provides: Gear, gas $$

The trip fee is for the trailer rental for boat transport.

You Should bring: swimwear (including footwear that can get wet and layers for extra warmth if you want), towel, warm clothes to change into
