James River - Glasgow To Snowden (Balcony Falls)
Sunday looks like a great day to paddle, but most of the local rivers are low 🙁 The Rivanna (runs through town) is an excellent river to learn white water kayaking on, but won’t be much fun unless we get a lot of rain. The middle-James is a nice run for all experience levels, depending on the water level, which right now is good for beginners-intermediates. So if we get dumped on by rain, We’ll run the Rivanna (~ 20 minutes round trip), if not, we’ll head to the mid-James (~3 hours round trip). This trip is for experienced beginners (someone who has been in a white water kayak) – intermediate paddler. DO NOT SIGN UP UNLESS YOU’VE TAKEN THE INTRO CLASS WITH ME OR CASE OR HAVE SIMILAR EXPERIENCE. Email or call me if you are not sure. 760-2739.
Pack a lunch. We’ll find a spot on the river to eat…
The Club Provides: All of the gear (including wetsuits and splash jackets), gas $$, and half the $$ for food to grab dinner if we go to mid-James.
You Should Bring: Swimwear (w/extra layers if you want), clothes to change into after, footwear that can get wet, towel, sunscreen, lunch/snacks, water, money for dinner
