Rockfish River
Celebrate the overdue return of spring with a trip to Rockfish river, a James river tributary that is excellent for beginners with some class II rapids and plenty of flat water to practice rolling. I will be arranging the logistics for this trip and the preeminent George Kinch will be the leader on the water.
This trip is suitable for beginners who want to get some river experience before spring kicks into full gear, or more experienced paddlers who are looking for a relaxing day on the water, but you must have taken Dave Clark’s intro whitewater class or have equivalent experience and be able to t-rescue and wet exit.
Weather looks like it will be beautiful with sun and highs into the high 60s but the water will be COLD. Club provides dry tops, but it is your responsibility to bring warm non-cotton clothing to wear on the river.
The club provides: Boat, paddle, skirt, pfd, helmet/noseplug, booties, drytop, paddle, boat transport, gas $$
You should bring: several warm non-cotton layers, snacks if you want ’em, water, change of clothing, towel. And one more driver other than me.
