OVERVIEW

*Demand is high for beginner trips and I want to put everyone on the water so I will do two trips this weekend, since I will be booked for the next month or so. Unless other experienced kayakers/ people with boat racks sign up I will only take 4 people to save me logistic nightmares. If you are still waitlisted on Saturday’s trip you didn’t make it in time (as in first 10 minutes after trip was posted) So try again here, and I will work out the details.

Since demand is so high PLEASE DON’T NO SHOW! If your not certain don’t sign up and cause someone else to not make the trip.

——————————————-

All the pool session are over, the water is unseasonably warm, and the rivers are up. That means that it is time to start getting on the river and see if those pool rolls work when the water is moving.

We will plan to go to the beautiful and fun Balcony Falls (Class II+ (III)) section of the James River in Glasgow. This is a great run for beginners and intermediate paddlers to learn and improve basic river skills. As with all things paddling, everything depends on the water level. The backup plan will be the Maury River in Lexington.

**You must have taken an introduction to whitewater kayaking class and be able to wet exit and T-Rescue to attend. A roll is not a prerequisite but if you have one be sure to bring it.

I will sign people off the waitlist as transportation and experienced boaters become available. Sign up early so I can get the gear list to Dave as early as possible. We will leave Bonneycastle circle at 9am, put on the river by 11, and be back in Charlottesville by 5pm.

The Club provides: Boat, paddle, skirt, pfd, helmet/noseplug, booties, drybags, floatbags, drytop, wetsuit, paddle gloves (limited sizes/quantities), boat transport, ga$

You should bring: Your boat/gear, wear several non-cotton layers, pack a light lunch to eat on the water, water, snacks, money for food/drinks after trip, and a good, adventurous attitude.
