James River - Glasgow To Snowden (Balcony Falls)
This trip is for beginners-intermediates. In order to sign up you are required to have prior river running experience or have taken the kayaking basics class with me. The section of the James from Glasgow, VA to Snowden has lots of class IIs and a couple class IIIs, including the area famous Balcony Falls. By tomrrow night the water should be running at 5- 6ft (~5000 cfs), which is pretty rare for this time of year, so lets take advantage! The start time for this one is going to be 4pm – PLEASE BE PROMPT. Its a 1.5 hour drive to the take out, so by the time we put in it will be 6, giving us about an hours worth of paddle time. The stretch of river is pretty short but we’ll stop and play at places for a while. We won’t be getting back in C’ville until around 11, so either pack a dinner or bring some money for Subway.

Boats, Skirts, PFDs, Paddles, Helmets/Nose Plugs, Dry Bags, Float Bags, Seat in Car.
You Bring:
Swimwear, Footwear that can get wet, Towel, Change of Clothes, $$ for dinner, snacks, water, and you may want to bring a flashlite and reading material or other form of entertainment as I will be biking from the take out back to the put in to get my Jeep. Total shuttle time for that will be ~30 min.
