Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
James River - Richmond
Come celebrate the end of the semester (whether you’re a student or not…you townies know what I’m talking about!) 🙂 and join me on an easy paddling trip on the James above Richmond. This section offers lots of class 1 and 2 rapids (at current water level) and is a great place to learn and/or practice river skills. This trip is for beginner paddlers: those that have been in a white water kayak on flat water and is dieing (forgive the wording!) to get in some white water, or those that have only been down a river a handful of times. Please do NOT sign up unless you have never taken the intro flat water class with me or have similar experience, or if you are an experienced paddler, unless you have your own boat/gear. Email or call me if you are not sure of your qualifications, dclark@virginia.edu; 962-9737.
I plan on leading an intermediate trip immediately following this one, on the next section down the James as it flows through downtown Richmond (really!). So because I’ll be staying in Richmond I will need drivers.
The Club provides: Boats, gear, boat transport
You should bring: swim wear (non-cotton layers if it is cold), footwear that can get wet, towel, change of clothes, sunscreen, water, snacks, your boat/gear if you have it
