Hi Everyone,
I’m Alan Gray, I’m one of the new trip leaders for mountain biking. My background is mostly skiing based, but with some experience mountain biking at Snowshoe a few years ago, I decided to pick up daily mountain biking over the summer and its been an absolute blast. Since then I’ve taught a couple of people the basics of mountain biking, and I’m so stoked to share that with you as well.
With the free access to mountain bikes and a great hill with a range of trail difficulties, we have an excellent situation for you to learn mountain biking. We have a nice beginner trail picked out, but we have some flexibility depending on how everyone is feeling. We will be going slow and taking lots of breaks, this trip is focused on learning how to mountain bike not testing physical limits.
With the success of the beginner MTB trip last week, we are looking at making this a weekly event. It will likely be at this time every week, but if this time doesn’t work for you or you just want to learn but this trip has filled up, reach out to me (434-270-1818) and I’ll see what I can do. I bike Ohill almost every day now so I’m pretty flexible with timing.
If you don’t have your own mountain bike or helmet, let me know on the trip questionnaire and we’ll try to secure you a club bike/helmet. Everyone will be waitlisted for this trip initially and depending on bike availability individuals will be taken off the wait list accordingly.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
What you need:
– Water (Either a bottle that will fit in a bottle cage, or bring a small backpack/hip pack to hold it)
– Gloves (optional)
– Closed-toe shoes
– Weather appropriate clothing
What the club will provide:
– Bikes
– Helmets
The plan:
5:30pm- meet at the shred shack a grab a bike for everyone
6:00pm- Ride up O-hill
7:45pm- back at the shred shack
The timing on the plan is pretty flexible to how people are feeling after some biking, we can always end early if people are tired.
