Corner Of Echols Dorm
Amphitheater
Echols House, McCormick Road, Charlottesville, VA, USA
Description:
Do you miss the old days of elementary school and going down slides during recess? Do you ever wonder why the dimensions of staircases around grounds are so odd? If only there was a way to recreate the nostalgia and bypass our aesthetic anomalies (and look epic while doing it). With that, I introduce to you… Rail sliding! With the help of gravity, good balance, and some practice, you’ll be sliding down stair railings all across grounds. Wow, so graceful, so fast!
What:
This is an introduction to rail sliding. We’ll talk technique, try our hands at some shorter and slower staircases to start off with, and I’ll do my best to give pointers. Then, we’ll moving to some slightly more challenging rails and spend the rest of the time there!
Where:
The plan will be to meet at the corner of Echols. Once we’re assembled, we can mosey around a bit. The places I have in mind are all on central grounds: Chem bldg., ampitheater, etc.
When:
Thursday October 12th
5pm – meet at echols
5:05pm – walk to chem bldg. and learn the basics
Xpm – walk to the amphitheater and show off our newfound elegance
6pm – Slide our separate ways
What to bring:
– Pants you don’t mind fraying/tearing some (unlikely but just in case)
– Gloves (optional)
– Closed toe shoes
– water
