OVERVIEW

This Sunday is looking to be fantastic spring-like weather (sunny and 63) so lets get out and paddle!

No experience necessary; We’ll be bringing a set of whitewater kayaks and gear, and we will start with the basics at the start of the river for those who have never whitewater kayaked before. We’ll paddle down a few miles of the class I-II Rivanna river here in Charlottesville.
River Description: http://www.americanwhitewater.org/content/River/detail/id/2001

This trip is suitable from beginners all the way to advanced kayakers! There’s a fun little play wave at the start, and it’ll be a great opportunity to hang out on the river in general. If you have a car and can transport boats, we’d especially like to have you come along! While the air temp might be nice, the water will still be very cold. For this reason, we won’t be teaching any rolls this time around.

SCHEDULE:
Meet at Echols Dorm at 11:45am, leave from there. Paddle for a few hours, and return to grounds by mid-afternoon. The section we will be doing isn’t too long, and the water will be moving moderately fast.

BRING:
Your boat/gear if you have it, footwear that can get wet (old tennis shoes or water shoes), swimwear, long non-cotton layers to wear over/under your swimwear, warm change of clothes for after, towel, snack for the river, 16-20oz bottle of water (it will fit in the boat), money to buy more snacks if necessary.

THE CLUB PROVIDES: kayak and gear (pfd, helmet, noseplug, paddle, spray skirt, neoprene booties), kayak and gear transport, warm semi-waterproof layers.
