Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Saint Mary's Wilderness
On Friday afternoon we will hike about 2-4 miles to a really nice clearing, perfect for setting up camp for the night, at which point we will be able to relax, throw a frisbee, eat dinner (smores!!!), and tell campfire stories of course! (P.S. the camp site is on an abandoned coal mine = really really cool!!) We will break camp Saturday morning, and depending on when everyone needs to get back home, either hike back out, or hike a mile out to the falls. I put the end time as 7pm for Saturday, but we can come back earlier or later depending on what everyone wants to do. The hike is nice and easy, so everyone is welcome to join!!
Outdoors at UVa provides:
Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, gas money, and if you need: big backpack, sleeping bag and pad, tent, and a seat in a car.
You should bring:
WATER (I will be bringing at least 2 liters)
lunch for Saturday/snacks for the hike
flashlight
extra socks
good hiking shoes (we will have to cross some rivers; I’ll be wearing sneakers)
warm clothes (it will be colder in the mountains)
rain gear (just in case, right now, the forecast is not predicting rain)
bug spray
toilet paper
if you have a guitar, and can carry it on your backpack, then definitely bring it!!!
