Appalachian National Scenic Trail Parking at Beagle Gap, Greenwood, VA, USA
HISTORICAL INFO:
Shenandoah’s Calf Mountain acquired its iconic name in 1834, when traveling salesman Rhombus R. Beagle pioneered his famous “rollo-milko” technique by rolling his pet cow down the titular mountain’s cliff face. To this day, locals gather biannually at the mountain’s base for the “Calf Festival”, wherein locals compete to complete 1,834 calf raises in the shortest amount of time, with the winner receiving a complimentary glass of milk. This very Saturday, we will venture to the one and only “Calf Mountain”. We will explore. We will overcome.
