BIG POOL? HUGE POOL?! Cedar Run Hike

OVERVIEW

HELLO HELLO it is spring and that means it is time to get out under the trees and go find the holes where water collects and cautiously dip ourselves into them – there is no better place to do this than Cedar Run, a hike that includes AllTrails points of interest such as “big pool” and “HUGE pool”. Seriously though, it’s gonna be great, even if you don’t wanna do some chilly swimming.

We are planning to start from the bottom at and hike up this drainage, dipping along the way as we want. If we’re really feeling it, we could even make our way all the way up to Skyline Drive, but we’ll see how far we want to go when we get out there, it’ll probably be at least 4 miles for the entire out and back though, and around 1.5K ft of elevation gain. This hike will be a bit of an uphill slog until we come back down so we’ve marked it as an intermediate trip. We want you on this trip though! so if you’re concerned about that but stoked on coming, just send mitch a text at the number below, it’ll be a pretty accommodating and welcoming group.

We’ll run this waitlist randomly and select people on Saturday morningish then go first come first serve from there if needed. Mitch will drive but if we got a lotta interest and another driver, priority will go to them to bring one other car. They can get their gas reimbursed by the club plus a 50% tip up to $20!

The Plan
1pm – meet at corner of echols dorm, drive to trailhead
2pm – hikey up the drainage
5pm – latest time we’ll return to trailhead
6pm – latest time we’ll return to cville

To Bring
– sturdy shoes for hiking
– water and snacks!
– appropriate clothes for the weather/clothes to swim in
– a bag for all that jaunt – daypacks available from the Gear Room
– a wetsuit for the cold water if you want? we should be able to pick some up (pre soaked) at shrack the day of
