Hey bird enthusiasts, we’re heading to Lickinghole Creek for a quick birding trip! According to eBird, Lickinghole Creek is a birding hotspot with 200 species listed, so there should be a lot for us to see. The trail is easy to follow and takes us along the creek to the lake, providing an opportunity to spot both wetland and songbirds (such as the pic I took of the Carolina Wren in the Adventure photo). No previous birding experience is required, but we recommend downloading the Merlin ID app to identify the birds you spot and the eBird app to keep track of your sightings. The only equipment necessary is a pair of binoculars, but thanks to the gear room, we will have enough pairs for everyone to have their own. We will bring them for everybody and hand them out on the trip.
The plan:
8 am: meet at Echols and drive to the creek
8:20 am: birding!
10:10 am: say goodbye to the birds and depart
10:30: back at Echols
You should bring:
water
warm clothes
I’ll bring:
binoculars for everyone
