OVERVIEW

If “boulder more often” (or “go bouldering for the first time” ) wasn’t on your New Year’s resolution, you should re-evaluate and probably add it to your list. And if “getting outside more often” (everyone in Outdoors@UVa should have this on their list) is on your list, then you can really start the new year off on the right foot*!

As the title suggests, this trip is open to all levels. I’ll expect a few beginners to be on the trip, so I’ll plan to spend some time early on going over safety, technique, and outdoor / climbing ethics.

The weather should be in the 50s in Charlottesville, but will likely be in the mid to upper 40s on the parkway and “mostly sunny” – pretty ideal climbing conditions! As with any activity in the winter, wear layers.

The boulders are ~1 hour away. As long as the parkway closures stay as is, we’ll be fine to get where we’re going. I’m aiming to have us on the parkway during the warmest time of day. You’ll want to bring a lunch with you.

Finally, I’ve capped the trip at 5 for now. If we get another driver, I’ll expand the trip.

*Disclaimer: some boulder problems are best started with the left foot.
