Brazy Early Morning Old Rag

OVERVIEW

OK guys. Old rag is awesome, if you’ve been, you know, if you haven’t, you probably still know. While it is awesome normally, I would argue that it is even more awesome in the fall during sunrise.

You may ask,,, dude? how will we be able to see it during sunrise?? to which I say, duh, we wake up balls early in the morning and get a dummy early start so that we can watch our planet’s source of energy, life, and all that return for another 12ish hours of beauty. Mr. Patty and i did this last year, and we have come out of old rag hibernation to bring others with us on this marvelous sufferfest.

That being said, we will leave cville around 3 am, so that we can observe this feat of nature. Old rag tix are $1, and you need a SNP to enter so if someone has one that would be awesome. We are also going to try to keep the group kinda small, so that we can all fit in one car. At the top, we will probably have some time before it rises, so we will probs vibe, cook sum shit, eat it, and vibe some more. Depending on when people need to get back, we can take a longer, chiller trail back, or we could take a shorter, more difficult way back. We will go by vibes.

Quick disclaimer : Old Rag is not known to be an easy hike. It features just over 2000 feet of elevation gain over the course of 9 or so miles. There is TONS of scrambling throughout the hike, so keep that in mind when determining if you can do this hike, especially in the dark. We want everyone to feel welcomed on the trip — I’m sure most people, especially people in ODC ;), could do this hike, but we are looking to keep a relatively quick pace, and we are doing 1/2 of it (the hardest 1/2 of it, in fact) in the dark. We will prioritize people with SNP passes, and people with sufficient hiking experience. If we get enough interest, we might try to bring another car.
