Dolly Sods Wilderness, Davis, WV, USA
Pack your bags for the perfect fall break getaway—let’s explore Dolly Sods together!
🍂 Join me for a three-day backpacking adventure in Dolly Sods, West Virginia! From the stunning arctic tundra-like landscapes to the high plateaus and stunted red spruce trees, this place promises incredible beauty. I’ve heard amazing things from friends, and I can’t wait for us to explore it together for the first time!
We’ll be taking on a 18-20-mile loop through streams, bogs, and wide-open meadows, perfect for a three-day backpacking trip. While the mileage is manageable, I’m marking it as intermediate because, based on online posts, we can expect to get pretty muddy along the way.
ALSO: Looking for drivers! Gas is reimbursed, and the drive is about 3 hours of scenic West Virginia beauty. If you’re able to drive, you’ll get priority for the trip, so let me know!
Here is a guide we’ll be using: https://www.hikingupward.com/mnf/dollysodslionshead/#google_vignette
And here is an AllTrails loop that’s similar to the route in the guide above: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/west-virginia/bear-rocks-lions-head-loop
