OVERVIEW

Dear mountain bikers,

This will be an intermediate/advanced trip to the Blue Ridge School, another local gem just outside of Charlottesville. These incredible trails are super close to home and have a little something for everyone! I’ve been wanting to go here for months and am incredibly stoked to explore and see just exactly what it has to offer.

We are planning to ride around 10-15 miles (w/ breaks), though a route is not set in stone and neither is the distance (let us know in the comments if you’d prefer something else and if you are okay/not okay with this distance. We’re currently planning on riding this route: https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/7061585/brs-three-towers. If we have a mixed skill group of large enough size, we can also potentially split up at some point depending on what people want.

***Please read***
The route linked above (and some of the trails we’d like to ride, particularly Copperhead) have some challenging sections, but all of the tough technical features have a ridearound option, so you don’t have to ride them if you’re not feeling it/don’t feel comfortable. So, while this will be a challenging ride, it does not demand pro skills, and can promise that this place is super fun even on the ridearounds.

Rough schedule:
8:30am – meet at the shred shack (116 washington ave)
9:30am – get to the brs
9:30am – 1:15pm – bike and stuff! (with lots of breaks!!!!!!!)
1:15pm – back at the car (potentially sooner, depends how much we wanna ride)
2:00pm – back to cville

What you bring:
– water (2L): we can put 1-2 bottle cages on each bike (let us know in the questionnaire). I recommend wearing a backpack (not your school bag) with water/food, if you don’t have one, let us know or stop by a gear room for one
– snacks/little lunch
– a way to carry your water and snacks (backpack recommended (club has backpacks and hip packs as well), see above)
– gloves (cheap work gloves are great)
– weather-appropriate clothing
– closed-toe shoes (flat bottomed shoes, think vans, af1, etc.)
