Great Falls Park, Old Dominion Drive, McLean, VA, USA
Have you been itching to try outdoor rock climbing? Then this is the trip for you! We will be heading to the Dihedrals crag at Great Falls Park to do some climbing on actual, real rocks – no plastic holds here!
This is a BEGINNER climbing trip, so come as you are – no experience required. We will be climbing routes that are easy to moderate in difficulty (5.4 – 5.9). If you would like to learn how to top rope belay, we can do that. We will be at the crag climbing for about 5-6 hours.
I’m reserving 2 spots for people very (or completely) new to climbing and 1 spot for someone who already knows how to top rope belay.
Since this trip is on a holiday weekend, let me know in the trip questionnaire if you’re able to leave from NoVa (closer drive) or if you’d rather leave from Charlottesville or somewhere else.
Gear to Bring:
– climbing harness
– belay device + locking carabiner
– climbing shoes
– chalk (optional)
– helmet (optional, but encouraged)
– clothes appropriate for the weather
– water
– snack
I’ll bring climbing ropes and anchor-building materials for group use.
