OVERVIEW

80 degree weather in October means a couple of things. 1) It’s practically mandatory that we spend an evening watching the stars and moon spin around us while we think about how small we are in this big, big world. 2) October means it’s time to fill the Shred Shack for this ’21-’22 school year!! 3) Climate change is big real and we gotta live it up (as sustainably as possible) while we still can.

It would be an understatement to say that this year has been a strange year for Outdoor’s Club. Typically, by October, you would all be well-acquainted with the earthy walls of the Shred Shack from numerous bonfires and parties, but COVID has unfortunately not allowed for that to happen. For those who don’t know, the Shred Shack is the outdoor club’s “headquarters” and mountain bike storage haven which is usually filled with a variety of crunchy, earth lovin, capitalist hatin, bonfire scented, tree huggin, rock climbin individuals from the club. While most of the house is filled for this upcoming year, we haven’t gotten a chance to meet as many members as we normally do and we want to gauge interest for people who might be interested in residing and filling the remaining spots in the Shred Shack (116 Washington Ave) for this upcoming school year!

That being said!! Regardless of your level of interest for living in the house next year, Burke, Sophia and I implore you to join us on our star searching adventure this Thursday night. Let’s wander around in the dark, share our mediocre knowledge of constellations, giggle a little, whisper our dreams to the moon, get to know each other, talk about why you should wanna live in our wonderful little forest home next year and see shooting stars 🙂

This week is gonna be WARM but it has been a wee chilly at nights recently so bring your coziest layers, blankets, hot tea, etc. We will meet at the corner of Echols and let the moon pull us a short walk in whichever direction it pleases to find the best location to gaze upon the universes.

Again!! This trip isn’t only for potential shredzidents, anyone is more than welcome to hang Thursday night. If you aren’t available at this time but are interested in hearing more about living in the ODC house, feel free to join the waitlist for this trip and state that in the questions that will pop up or send me a text or email (ejs4zb@virginia.edu)!
