Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Shenandoah National Park
Staying at school for reading days? Take a break from C-ville and come camping and horseback riding in the morning at Shenandoah National Park!
Itinerary:
Leave from Echols 3:45 PM Sunday Oct 12
Eat dinner and camp out at Big Meadows Campground.
Break camp early in the morning to depart on an 8:45 horseback trail ride, lasts one hour.
Depending on what people are up for afterwards, we’ll either head back to C-ville or do an easy short midday hike in the area, maybe Little Stony Man Cliffs or something similar. I’m guessing we’ll be back by 1PM at the latest on Monday, but depending on what we decide to do after the ride, it could be earlier or later.
Right now it looks as if it may rain, and if it does we will not camp the night before. If the rain doesn’t cancel our trail ride, we will leave from Echols at about 6:30 in the morning on Monday, I’ll update people as it gets closer and if the weather forecast changes.
Club provides: Gas $, dinner Sunday night, any camping gear you need.
You provide: Water, WARM clothes, any camping gear you have, closed toe shoes, any lunch or snack stuff you want for Monday, $30 for trail ride.
Please note: Stable mandates that you must be at least 4’10” and less than 250 lbs to ride. MUST wear closed toe shoes (no Keens or anything either) and long pants, helmets are provided. I have to limit the trip to 6 people because that is the maximum number they can take out at a time. Club does not reimburse for the $30 trail ride.
Also, Big Meadows only allows 2 tents per site so I hope no one snores! And bring a warm hat and plenty of warm clothes for camping!
Everyone is waitlisted until I get drivers.
