OVERVIEW

**The rain keeps coming down, and we’re now over an inch for the day – much more than originally forecast. Preddy will probably be pretty sloppy for several days to come, so this trip will have to wait until another time, more coming at ya soon. Sorry!

Learn to shred at Preddy Creek!

If you can ride a bike on a flat paved surface, you have enough experience to come on this trip. We’ll be riding the smooth and flowy trails of Preddy Creek, a perfect place to try out mountain biking and practice the basics.

Da Plan:
Depart from the Shred Shack at 1pm
Drive 30 mins to the trails
Go over some basics in the parking lot/field
Ride the ~3mi trail loop. Maybe twice depending on how stoked y’all are
Learn how to backflip off of Jim’s car (wait what?)
Head home, back by 4ish

YOU NEED:
-Athletic Clothes (temps approaching 60!)
-Shoes – Skate shoes are best, boots are also quite good, running shoes are just ok but will certainly do the trick. Basically the stiffer and grippier the sole, the better.
-Water
-Snack
-Gloves (optional) – not like ski gloves, just something to protect your hands and help with grip. Leather work gloves are great. I’ll have a few pairs to loan out as well.
-Small backpack if you want to carry water/layers

I PROVIDE:
-Mountain bike and helmet – if you have your own, that’s awesome! The club has some surprisingly rad bikes though, so depending on what you’re driving you might be better off with a club bike. just let me know in the questions what you’re working with.

A word of advice: getting better at mountain biking, like anything, involves some healthy failure. Show up ready to totally suck and probably fall!! Having the right attitude about this – and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty – will go a long way in helping you enjoy the feeling of working through the challenge of your first mile on a mountain bike; after that, you’ll be rippin it up!

Also, disclaimer: these trails are great for your first time, but like most fun things, you could of course get hurt doing this. just sayin.
