Canceled Friday Furnace Mountain Fun (Sunrise + Dog)

******** Have to cancel this bad boi because Old Rag got me good last night and I tore a ligament in my ankle :(((((( **********

It’s been WAY too long since I’ve seen the sun rise from a mountain, and Furnace Mountain is a bit less-trafficked than the usual sunrise spots! It’s a moderate 3 miles up, 3 miles down, and should take a little over an hour to get to the summit. Our four legged friend, Evie, will be accompanying us, so if you’re a fan of dogs, sunrises, and getting out of the stressful UVA bubble this hike is for you!

4:45 AM leave Echols
5:45 AM get to trailhead, hike a little over an hour to the summit
7:13 AM sunrise!
8:15 AM get back to cars
9:20-30 AM back in Cville!

You bring:
Headlamp
LAYERS!!!! The low is 26 degrees and it’ll most likely feel colder on the trail and especially at the summit
Sturdy shoes
Water
Breakfast/snacks
Musical instruments if ya want!!!
