116 Washington Avenue - A.K.A. Shred Shack
Manchester Wall
Howdy friends,
Come on down to Manchester Wall and get schooled. This trip will be open to any skill level, and based on interest I’ll assemble the group such that we can learn and climb as much as possible.
If you just want a lift to the wall to get some pitches in, that’s okay too – just let me know in the comments and I’ll try to pair you up with someone!
Manchester Wall is located in downtown Richmond, VA and is where I cut my teeth in outdoor climbing. It’s the closest thing to an outdoor climbing gym, and a primo location for an introduction to toprope, sport, and traditional climbing. We’ll have access to bolted and trad routes from 5.6-5.11.
Noon departure from Shred Shack
Drive an hour to the Wall
Climb until we collapse – probably four hours or so
Tacos
Head home, probably back in CVille around 8 – but best if we can be flexible on this
YOU NEED:
Harness – gear room
Climbing shoes – gear room
Chalkbag – gear room
Sunglasses/sunscreen recommended
Snacks
Water
Money from your taco-specific bank account (you should have one)
I BRING:
Ropes
Belay devices
Hardware/quickdraws/trad gear if necessary
Helmets
**Climbing is dangerous. No amount of gear or experience completely eliminates that risk, but we’ll do our best to mitigate it as we can. I reserve the right to “ground” anyone whose behavior I deem unsafe, including not wearing a helmet, climbing without a rope, or generally detracting from a safe climbing environment.
I am not a professional guide. I will do my best to teach modern standards of climbing techniques and help you get out of your comfort zone in a constructive way, but you are ultimately responsible for using common sense and taking care of yourself.**
