Hey Friends,

I’ve heard amazing things about McAfee Knob, and still have yet to go, so after an impulsive decision to cut my Monday classes and leave for home on Friday, I thought it was absolutely frickin necessary to make this trip and do one last full send to see the sunset and all the fleeting foliage in Virginia.

My plan, and hopefully yours too:
Meet at Echols at 1:15 (pretty pls come earlier ~1 pm so we can leave by 1:15 since the drive takes some time and we don’t wanna miss the beautiful sunset!!!) and drive out to the trail head. Once we get to the trail, we’ll hike the ~4 miles to the summit and hopefully catch the beautiful sunset and get to relax a bit/think about the minimal time that stands between us and that huge thanksgiving feast. We’ll be back in Charlottesville around 8:15-8:30 if all goes as planned (and there isn’t heavy traffic).

What to bring:
-sturdy shoes/hiking shoes
-hydration hydration hydration
-layer on those clothes- it’ll be chilly past dark
-some delicious snacks- to share or not to share (for those who have hiked with me before, I’ll try to go to the store and buy an avocado to bring with my everything but the bagel seasoning and crackers)
-headlamp or other light source
-some awesome conversation topics
