Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
The Outer Banks
Hey Folks
This fall break let’s go catch some rays and waves down in ole Carolina. On Friday we will venture down to Hatteras Island in the Outer Banks, and set up shop in a campsite right on the other side of the dunes from the Atlantic Ocean. From there the Outer Banks is our oyster. Possible activities include surfing, stand up paddleboarding, surf fishing, off-roading (if anyone has a vehicle with such capabilities), hiking, nightly fires on the beach, sunbathing, and sunbasking.
The Outer Banks are swaddled in the warm waters of the Gulf Stream and thus both air and water temperatures will be in the mid-70s. Fall in the Outer Banks is also home to the best surfing on the East Coast. The club has a few boards and wetsuits and there are also cheap rentals once we get down there. I am planning this trip with a loose itinerary and so everyone will have the opportunity to help decide what we do while we are down there.
Costs: The Club will cover gas and our campsite so we will have to pay only for food and whatever gear we will need while down there.
Whacha Need: Sleeping Bag, Sleeping Pad, Bathing Suit, Beach Towel, Water Bottle, Sunscreen, A Book, Headlamp or Flashlight
We need at least one driver who will receive the utmost priority for this trip, especially if someone has a car with offroad beach driving potential.
