Caving trip to Porter’s!

OVERVIEW

Let’s go caving! I’m leading a trip to Porter’s cave on Saturday. It’s a fairly large cave with passages that vary from large rooms to small crawl-ways. Did you enjoy climbing trees as a kid? If so you’ll love caving! No experience is required to join this trip. If folks feel like a challenge, maybe we’ll try the infamous “Keyhole” passage! The cave is about 2 hours away from Charlottesville. We’ll meet at 9am at Bonnycastle Circle and carpool from there. If people feel like it, we will pick up some dinner on the way home.

Club will provide:
Helmet
Headlamp
Knee pads
Flashlight
Batteries
Gloves

What you need to bring:
Clothes you don’t mind getting muddy (jeans and a sweat shirt work well)
Boots with good treads.
Lunch/snacks/water bottle.
Plastic bag to put muddy clothes in afterwards
Change of clothes/shoes for drive home
Small knapsack or fanny pack to carry snacks, flashlight, extra batteries and water into the cave. (if you don’t have one, just let me know. The club has a couple or you can just share with someone else.)
