OVERVIEW

What’s the best fried chicken chain? Charlottesville is well known for its range of fried chicken offerings, and thanks to Nash equilibriums (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotelling%27s_law), they just so happen to all be next to each other on one long strip. On this trip, we will bike to seven fried chicken fast food restaurants, and order a tenders, sandwich, and fries at each for all of us to try (so you’re not eating seven full meals). We will then compare (with a rubric?) and crown the CHICKEN STRIP KING.

ITINERARY
The whole loop takes about one hour nonstop, plus time for buying food and eating it. We may be able to order online in advance to expedite things. Also we maybe skip McDonald’s or Cook Out for a shorter trip.
10 AM – Meet at Echols and start biking
Cluster 1: Barracks – McDonald’s + Chik-fil-A
Cluster 2: Cook Out + Zaxby’s
Cluster 3: Popeyes + KFC + Raising Cane’s
3 PM? Maybe earlier: Back at Echols

WHAT TO BRING:
– Bike (road is nice but we are putting in very small miles. You can also check out a bike from the club)
– Helmet
– Bike lock
– Money
– Water

DISCLAIMER
The real challenge here is actually just biking on these roads. Emmet St N AKA Route 29 has NO biking infrastructure so we will most likely use a mixture of walking on sidewalks and taking back roads when necessary. We will proceed as comfortable but expect to “share” the road with high-speed cars at some points along this trip. We can consider this a lesson on how NOT to design urban infrastructure as we go along.
