Chimney tops sounds preeeetty insane doesn’t it… Well, it seems to look preeeetty insane as well but I think this is something to check out for ourselves! I was doing some research-y search and some how stumbled upon this gem in West Virginia near Dolly Sods. This is a 5.3 mile out and back hike and is said to be a leg burner (gaining 2,000 + feet of elevation in miles so this is a more advanced hike), nonetheless, the views at the top look spectacular so the leg burner hike should be worth it. It will be an intense day as I have decided to put fit it into one rather than do an overnight trip as I know lots of people have midterms at the moment so here is the plan…
Plan:
Meet at Echols Corner: 6.45am (need to be prompt with timing because I have read that there are not many spaces for parking)
Arrive at Trail Parking lot for 9.30am roughly
Start hiking the hike-y hike
Hopefully arrive at the top of the Chimney Tops around 1/1.30pm and chill there for a while because it is supposed to be an intense hike, and like, views n all.
Roll down the mountain with ease and head back to Cville
Arrive at Echols Corner for 8pm roughly (maybe a bit earlier)
Things to bring:
– Plenty of water
– Plenty of food and snacks (anything you may want for lunch and snacks that you desire)
– A backpack to keep yo stuff in
– And a positive vibe to climb the chimney tops😊
Deets:
5.2 miles out n back
