Climb-maxing at the NEW

OVERVIEW

The cold cold winter has come to an end and yet again we make our I-64 pilgrimage to NRGE. This weekend we will be climb-maxing with friends and friends. You must be an independent, comfortable sport climber for this trip. The goal is that we will pair up in groups of two and climb-max. You must at minimum be a good, comfortable lead belayer. If you can’t clean, you must be willing to learn. If this doesn’t sound like you, we are planning to have top-rope and learn-to-lead trips at NRGE and hopefully I can do something more beginner friendly between now and then too. This trip could be a good opportunity to show your independence/safety as a climber and be a step towards getting approved to lead trips for the club. I will give priority to people w/ interest in becoming climbing trip leaders.

We are thinking that on Saturday we will … Plans are flexible.

Ray’s is closed.

We will leave Sunday whenever we are content. Probably getting back somewhere between 4 and 9pm.

You need to bring
harness
belay device
helmet
climbing shoes
chalk
pas / whatever you want to clean with
sleeping configuration capable of shielding you from the cold (low 30s)
layers
food for the whole weekend
water

We are not climbing guides. Climbing is inherently dangerous. We are happy to share knowledge but ultimately you are responsible for your own safety.
