Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
New River Gorge
We’ll leave after school/work and drive about 3 1/4 hrs to the New River Gorge in WV. There we will camp Friday night, climb Saturday and Sunday returning late on Sunday night. Saturday we may climb at Whipporwill. There are several nice climbs there that are not available in the summer. This includes a great 5.7, 5.8, and 5.9. If we have the people to set them, there are a couple 11a’s. Sunday will be up for vote, possibly Somersville. These locations may change based on the level of the climbers in the group.
I can put up routes through 5.9 however I will need a sport belayer to do so. To climb anything harder, we will need someone approved to sport climb on club trips to join. Because of this condition, everybody will be waitlisted.
For the trip, you must be able to belay and be able to climb 5.8 consistently.
Club provides: gas $$, 3 meals Saturday, breakfast and lunch Sun. any climbing gear you need. any camping gear you need.
You bring: DISHES AND UTENSILS so that you don’t have to eat off the ground with your hands! 2L+ water, money for road food (Friday dinner, Sunday dinner), snacks, your camping and climbing gear, rain coat, camera, sunscreen, backpack to carry climbing gear & snacks (for ~1 mile)
