Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
New River Gorge
We’ll be sport and top rope climbing at the New River Gorge — arguably the best climbing in the east coast — and we’ll finish the trip with some refreshing swimming and cliff diving at the Summersville Lake climbing area.
And most importantly, we’ll be having breakfast at the glorious Cathedral Cafe! Dinners will be at whatever restaurant we feel like going to.
The New is also home to Waterstone Outdoors, the best place I’ve ever been to for buying climbing gear. Even if you don’t want to buy anything, it’s still a blast going in after a day of climbing and looking at a whole store full of climbing gear — hmmm…gear… 🙂
Because of the places we’ll be climbing at, the easiest climbs will be around 5.9, so if you can’t climb 5.9 then you won’t get to do much climbing. If you don’t know how to sport climb, that’s cool — you can toprope routes after someone has lead them OR you can learn how to sport climb!
The club can supply climbing gear, tents, sleeping bags/pads, transportation, and pay for most if not all of the breakfasts and dinners.
You should bring plenty of water, snacks, and a bathing suit.
