OVERVIEW

Hey, y’all! Join me for the Craggin Classic at the New River Gorge aka a climbing party weekend more or less. I need two drivers with (ideally) large cars who will get priority off the waitlist.

Every year the AAC puts on its Craggin Classic weekend at various campgrounds around the country. This year, the Craggin Classic is September 22nd-24th. Events start Friday morning and go through Sunday morning. Breakfast + Dinner + Drinks (if you’re over 21) are provided in the registration fee. The barebones cost for the weekend is $70, and we will camp at Ray’s campground. I’ll handle the camping fees but each person will need to individually register once they are off the waitlist. The goal on Friday is to leave grounds by 2pm to make it to the AAC in time for 6 pm dinner (tacos). After that there’s a bring-your-own-dessert content for those interested and then music and a movie at 10 pm. There are clinics all day Saturday that you can register yourself for, but they come at an extra fee. There’s also a bouldering competition, which also comes at an extra fee. My plan was to just go climb on our own or maybe with other folks from the Craggin Classic where we want and not participate in any of the competitions. Whether we boulder/sport climb or both depends on who signs up and preferences. Saturday night is dinner and more entertainment and with breakfast as the last official event on Sunday morning. We will climb until 5 pm at the latest on Sunday before returning to Cville. More info can be found here: https://americanalpineclub.org/nrg-cc.

Please note that I have put this as a beginner trip because I want people of all skill levels to sign up. If you’ve never climbed outside before, that’s totally ok! This is such a community event and I want to be as inclusive as possible. We’ll try to go to places with a variety of grades.

PACKING LIST
– Saturday/Sunday lunch
– 2 Breakfast/Dinners if you don’t want to eat the provided food
