Cole Mountain – Mount Pleasant Sat-Sun Backpacking

OVERVIEW

Hello!

Octavia and I are hyped to do some backpacking this weekend! We’ve chosen the Cole Mtn and Mt. Pleasant loops, and will be leaving around 2pm from UVA! If you’re looking for some fun this weekend be sure to sign up! If you’ve been hiking a decent distance before you’re ready to go. Camping really isn’t too difficult and sleeping under the stars has a great charm to it.

I promise the gear stuff isn’t scary, just make sure you know when gear rooms are so you don’t miss out on the trip! (I am a gearmaster so please just text me if you need an alternate time, right before the trip would lowkey work if you need it.)

for food, you’re not required to bring things that need heating, but it does make for a more fun experience in my time. i’d recommend things that you pour hot water into to rehydrate them, for example I use instant oatmeal packets for an easy breakfast option. food is up to you but do keep in mind all we will have is likely a simple gas stove, so please don’t bring raw meat or something that requires legit prep

What to bring:
sleeping bag
sleeping pad
tent (not everyone needs one but everyone should have a spot)
hiking clothes + shoes
toiletries
headlamp
whatever you require to eat
something fun to do if you so desire, I’m gonna bring some playing cards
lots of water, I’d recommend at least a gallon if you can
snacks
breakfast
good attitude
bug spray if you’re an insect magnet

what we bring
stove
first aid kits
binoculars maybe
water filter if we need it

plan
2pm leave Echols
backpack until we come to whichever campsite we want -> cook dinner, chill, tell stories, stargaze, enjoy serenity of a clear blue mountain lake
wake up and complete rest of figure 8 loop
probably back in cville by 6pm sunday?
