OVERVIEW

Yo yo what up my fellow bikers,

I’ve been wanting to volunteer at CCB for a long ass time, mainly because I don’t have enough to do and academic clubs are boring, but also because they are an awesome organization that empowers people and is actively making Charlottesville and the world a better place. We’ll be learning the basics of what we’ll be doing in the future at other volunteering opportunities and hopefully getting scheduled to help out together!

These are some of the things they might have us helping out with:
Cleaning donated bikes for our Referral Bike Program
Refurbish kids’ bikes for our Kids’ Bike Program
Cleaning donated parts in our parts washer
Sorting donations and tires
Sweeping and picking up trash outside the shop
Cleaning the shop (sweeping, mopping, cleaning the bathroom)
Patching inner tubes
Prepping bikes for our mechanics to refurbish
Taking out trash and recycling

The plan is to meet at slaughter at 5:45 and bike over to CCB near dairy market
– if you don’t have a bike, that’s cool, we can figure out how to get you one to borrow

The orientation is at 6pm and I’m not sure how long it is, but it probably won’t be more than an hour so I put the trip until 7pm

Priority to people who are interested in continually helping out at this place, because the intention of this orientation is to educate enthusiastic volunteers, so just think about that when signing up, but also there’s no binding committment to volunteer if you do attend this.
