About the hike, esteemed website of trail info Hiking Upward dot Com says, “Crabtree Falls is arguably the most beautiful set of waterfalls in Virginia. Billed as the tallest waterfalls east of the Mississippi, Crabtree Falls is a must see for anyone who lives in the mid-Atlantic region.”
Surely a short, albeit very, very steep hike to a waterfall is enough to sell you, right? But wait, there’s more! We’ll leave a little before lunch time and stop at Blue Ridge Pig on our way out. If you don’t like barbeque, you can bring a bag lunch.
Ok, ok, could we do more than hiking in the turning fall colors with waterfalls and barbeque and a plan that gets you back before game time? Sure, why not! Roland mentioned a roadside apple stand on 56. After the hike, we’ll optionally pop in there and grab some apples or whatnot.
