Crabtree Falls to the Priest- (Beginner/Intermediate)

OVERVIEW

This is a ~9 mile out & back hike in George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, with around a 2,500 ft elevation gain. there will be several waterfalls and some incredible views at the outlook. The parking lot is around an hour from cville, so drivers will be reimbursed for gas.

Difficulty is beginner/intermediate because of the elevation gain: however, if you have decent physical fitness and are prepared for a moderate hike, you should be fine.

Itinerary:
-11:30am pickup at Echols
-12:30pm: Arrive at parking lot
-3:30pm: Lunch/break at the summit
-5:30pm: Finish hiking
-6:30pm: Arrive back at dorms, drop-off at Echols

What you should bring:
– 2 to 3L of water
– hiking shoes/athletic shoes with traction (rocks can get slippery)
– snacks/lunch
– daypack to hold everything
– hiking poles (optional)
– rain jacket/gear (optional- might start raining at around 4pm, but will be in the 70s throughout the hike)

* Crabtree falls has a fee of $3.00 per car, so depending on the number of cars could be $1-2 per person.
