What could be better than hanging out(side) with hordes of outdoorsy friends while listening to good music and eating good food? Why, kayaking at the same time of course!
This trip is my second of two Creekathon kayaking adventures. The first will be a more structured, typical intro-to-kayaking class. The second class will consist of several short session (~1hr long) where you will learn the most fundamental skills in white water kayaking to be qualified to go on future river trips. The first group to go out in this class will be those that signed up online and made it onto the trip list. The subsequent sessions will be for anyone who makes it to the class location and wants to learn to kayak (and as time allows). As for the class location, we will be at the first parking lot that you come to within the park, which is down the hill and through the woods a short hike from the main Creekathon site. From said site you will see a path leading into the woods away from the playground and parking lot. Follow that to a clearing then you can either continue on the path or follow the lake’s shoreline to the class site.
The start time for the adventure is for when the first group should be ready to get gear on. The end time is for when the last group will finish. For anyone attending: please make sure you have a ride home.
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING: Swimwear, towel, change of clothes, sunscreen, snacks, water, items for other adventures that you might be on, ways to entertain yourself in the park before and after the adventure, food for potluck if you so desire.
