Do you ever walk through Charlottesville and wonder, “why??? why has my city forsaken me???? why am I forced to persistently cross busy roads, full of metal death boxes on wheels?? is this what society has come to???? is there a way out of this hellscape???” Good. bc me and patrick do too.
We decided, maybe we shouldn’t just sit around and whine about the inconveniences which raised these questions in our minds. maybe, we should take action! maybe, just maybe, we could go out late at night to one of the worst pedestrian crossings on grounds and perform a seance (vibe on the road) which would summon (draw with chalk) a beautiful crosswalk for our fellow bipedal living beings.
that being said, we are going to draw a crosswalk with chalk on stadium road at the intersection of stadium and montebello. we have chalked roads before, and chatted with uva security, so we know it is legal, so do not fret the iron fist of the law, it holds no power over us (in this particular scenario).
we plan to meet in front of rice hall to convene around 930 such as to ensure we draw on the road at a time when there will be less cars on the road, feel free to come out and draw some crosswalk with us! we will supply the chalk, but any donations (in the form of chalk, money, or literally anything of value) would be greatly appreciated.
