DAY OFFFFF = CLIMB AT THE NEW RIVER GORGE

OVERVIEW

I LOVE THE NEW. YOU LOVE THE NEW. Since we have no school on Tuesday (go vote before then plz plz plz) we are going to the New on Monday, camping overnight at Ray’s, and then climbing all day Tuesday. We will probably have a car going up early on Monday so some people can climb all day monday and tuesday. We’ll probably be climbing in the summersville or kaymoor areas (or both if u go early monday morn…). It is slightly up in the air. The goal is to be climbing stuff in the 5.9-5.11whatever range.

The Plan:
– one car leaves early monday, climbs all day, one leaves later in the day monday
– unite at Ray’s campground, sleepy time
– climb all day tuesday
– leave when there is no more sun, drive home feeling 93% enlightened by the bliss of a weekday trip to the new but perhaps 7% stressed with the weight of the ongoing election (should get back around 10)

We bring:
– stick clippppp
– draws
– guidebook
– ropes
– alpines / quad

You bring:
– sleeping setup (tent, sleeping pad/bag)
– some climbing stuff (harness, helmet, shoes, belay device, chalk, PAS if u got it)
– food to sustain yourself for the trip
– layers
You can check out personal gear that you might be missing at the gear room!!!!!

This is an intermediate trip (we are not teaching you how to lead. sorryyyyy), so we expect that you already know what you are doing when lead belaying or lead climbing if you sign up.

We need two drivers! Trying to fit up to 10 ppl total so ideally one that wants to leave early and one that wants to leave. Gas is reimbursed up to $150 per car with a 50% driver tip capped at $20.
