Devilish Marbleyard Beginner Backpacking

OVERVIEW

Phew, Halloweekend was crazy! Now that all that spookyness is behind us, Ed and I figured it would be safe enough to venture into the great outdoors once again. Join us for this scenic, one-night beginner friendly backpacking trip to Devil’s Marbleyard!

The plan:

Saturday 11/5
Meet at Shred Shack 11am
Arrive at Trailhead 1pm
Hike 5 miles
Make camp
Catch a sunset (~3 miles no packs)

Sunday 11/6
Wake up 8 am, eat a yummy breakfast
Hike 3 miles + Devil’s Marbleyard exploration
Return to cars 11:30am
Return to Charlottesville 1pm ish

What to bring:
-backpacking backpack
-sleeping bag and sleeping pad
-sleeping bag liner (optional)
-sturdy shoes to hike in
-clothes to stay warm in overnight (no cotton!)
-warm hat
-rain jacket (just in case)
-toiletries
-working headlamp
-water (2+ liters for hike, seasonal water source at saddle)
-food! Snacks, dinner, and breakfast. Bring a stove or a dinner that does not need to be cooked

Any gear you need can be found at the gear room!

Ed and I will bring a couple tents and sawyer squeezes from the gear room.

DRIVER NEEDED!
-Drivers get priority off the waitlist. The club reimburses for gas +50% tip!
-Drivers need to show up to Shred Shack with a full tank of gas!
