OVERVIEW

Devil’s Marbleyard is tucked deep into Arnold’s Valley. Although not very well-known, it is one of the most spectacular hikes in Virginia because it has fun scrambling and great views. The drive is about 1 1/2 hours, and we’ll start with an easy 1.5 mile hike through the woods. From there, the mountain opens up into a 100 acre outcrop of granite rock, with rocks ranging in the size of “small pebbles to boulders the size of houses.” The grade is relatively steep, and you’ll have to use your hands to scramble 1/2-mile stretch to the top.

I have set the trip for 4 people, but will add more if I am not the only driver. The sign-up deadline is tomorrow by 6, so I will have added as many people from the waitlist as possible by 7. Also, I have set the departure time for 9, this is flexible, but remember that its about a 2 hour drive each way and we want to spend as much time as possible on the rocks.

Bring: water, lunch, appropriate shoes (hiking, climbing, gym, etc)

Club provides: ride in a car, gas money
