Bonnycastle Circle
Cold Mountain
The Welsh Mountain Observatory is predicting solid star gazing conditions, so pack your dinner and grab a mug and let’s go visit the “alpine meadow” atop Cold Mountain.
We’ll meet at Bonnycastle Circle at 5:00 PM Thursday, October 15th. Drive 1.5 hours, hike about a mile up to the meadow where we’ll catch the end of the sunset and have dinner while the stars come out. I’ll boil some water and have some tea/cider mix to share.
Things to bring:
– Closed toed shoes (hiking boots, running shoes, etc)
– 2L of water (equivalent to 2 Nalgenes or 4 standard water bottles)
– Lunch or snacks
– A rain jacket or poncho (rain is possible, but that won’t stop us!)
– A daypack (A school backpack is perfect)
*Drivers get bumped to the top of the list to allow more people to go. Everyone will be waitlisted for a bit while I organize this.
** I’m no guide, just a facilitator of fun at best/a free ride at worst.
