OVERVIEW

friday hikes have become an important part of my weekly routine, so here we are once again. last week, i was met with the harsh reality that fall foliage is rapidly declining and the park is looking more & more dead. so, for this week, i’m switching it up with a hike focused on water rather than a peak destination.

this is a first time for me, but we’re going to do the 4ish mile loop of rose river falls with a quick (~1/4 mile) detour to dark hollow falls as well. 1/2 the loop is a rocky trail, the other 1/2 is a fire road, and there’s views of cascades for most of the hike. for more details: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/virginia/rose-river-trail

the plan:
12:00 PM leave Echols
1:15 PM trailhead
~3ish hours of hiking + quick break for food
4:30 PM bop on back
5:45 PM back at UVA

to bring:
sturdy shoes!!!
2L+ water
layers
lunch and/or snacks
joy
