Corner Of Echols Dorm
Corner Of Echols Dorm
Big Meadows, Virginia, USA
You already know the deal: new moon + warm(ish) weather = an equally rad stargazing trip to one of the best places to view the night sky in Virginia. If you do not know, Big Meadows is located in the beautiful Shenandoah National Park. While we’re hoping the weather will be a little warmer, please bring whatever gear you feel will keep you warm (especially if you know you get cold easily!!). I’m super excited to finally be out in the meadows again and take in the beauty of the night sky with the coolest of people!!!
Schedule:
7:30pm – Load up and leave Echols
8:45pm – Arrive at Big Meadows and feast your eyes on the stars!!
10:45pm – Head back to grounds
12:00am – Arrive back at the Corner of Echols
Things to bring:
– Layers!!! It will be a bit chilly, and you do not want to be cold (low of around 50°F)
– Cozy blanket (whatever you need to feel comfortable)
– Comfy walking shoes
– Phone flashlight
– Any cool stargazing gear!! (star chart, binoculars, etc.)
Optional:
– Sleeping bag, sleeping pad!! (I highly recommend this!)
– Gloves!! (if you have ice cold hands like me)
– A tasty snack and drink
****DRIVER’S WILL GET A PRIORITY OFF THE WAITLIST AND GET REIMBURSED AND GET A 50% TIP, drivers should also show up with a full tank of gas****
I will be driving, but will need two other drivers to max out the number of people able to go on the trip. The drive itself is about an hour and fifteen minutes, so please make sure you show up with a full tank of gas!!
