OVERVIEW

*NEED DRIVERS AND SHENANDOAH PARK PASSES*

Alright homies.
It’s that time of year again. Right now is Old Rag’s ~prime time~ bc all of the trees are lush with vibrant fall colors, so I wanna get out one more old-rag for those of you who are willing to wake up early enough. Why so early?
Because with late-season colors comes buttloads*** (it’s an actual unit of measurement, see below) of older tourists, young kids, and generally large crowds that cause the bouldering part to bottleneck…

Since I’m a fairly impatient person and love speeding through Old Rag, I despise the bottleneck. So we’ll be waking up extra early. like really early.
But it will be REWARDING, FULFILLING and you’ll get a round of applause for me if you make it. Don’t miss out on this just bc you love sleeping– your bed will still be there when you get back.

Plan to leave Echol’s at 5am, BE EARLY OR ON TIME, hike typically takes 4.5 hours plus driving. We should be back around noon.Taking 8-10 people at max, priority for another driver and if you have a Shenandoah pass. If you have to withdraw AFTER the add/drop deadline of Friday @2pm, you need to TEXT ME at 847-863-0008.

I plan on running/keepin a super fast pace on the way back down the fire road in addition to this already being a strenuous hike (we’ll stop to enjoy the view and eat a lil at the top), so just make sure you’ve got the stamina/positive energy and are relatively in shape to make this a ‘frickin’ blast!’ (quote Riley Timmer)

important: DOES COST $5 for parking!!!!!!
what to bring:
– good running/hiking shoes
– an ocean of quality h2o
– enough snacks to last 5-6 hours
– yearning to see some wonderful views
– a real camera?

***Buttload: “A ‘butt’ is a traditional unit of volume used for wines and other alcoholic beverages. A butt is generally defined to be two hogsheads, but the size of hogsheads varies according to the contents. In the United States a hogshead is typically 63 gallons and a butt is 126 gallons.”
