in front of slaughter
Also slaughter!
Monticello, Monticello Loop, Charlottesville, VA, USA
I haven’t been to Monticello in quite a while, so I figured election day is prime time to do so. In the spirit of the founding fathers, I’ve decided to ditch cars and walk there the old fashioned way. Every UVA student gets free admission as long as you have your id, so there’s no cost to go. I will also be voting right as we leave and I suggest that everyone else does the same! If you are not registered to vote, you can still do so on election day at the polling place (slaughter). Make sure to bring your drivers license or other id to the polling place.
It’ll be about 6 miles each way, totaling a little over 12, with half of the walking being through Charlottesville and the other half on the Monticello trail to get up to the house. At some point we will have to walk alongside VA-20 for maybe 10 minutes, so keep that in mind.
What to bring:
Water and snacks (or maybe money if you want to stop by the cafe there)
