Elliot Knob Backpacking!

OVERVIEW

Hey y’all. I love backpacking and I’m loving the cooler weather. I’ve seen some cool trips to elliot knob in the past (specifically ones of people camping in the fire tower) and I’m jealous so let’s go do just that! The goal is to hike up elliot knob, secure the fire tower for sleeping in, enjoy the stars, and hike back down on saturday. The hike is 8.3 miles and 2500 ft so only ~4 miles per day but still some elevation.

its a lil early to tell but it may rain some on saturday morning so please be prepared for that

The plan:
friday
1:15 PM meet outside echols and depart
2:00ish arrive at trailhead and head out
4:00? arrive at fire tower and chill
make dinner, talk, play games, tell stories, have fun?

saturday
8 am wake up, eat breakfast, and pack up
8:45 head out
11? back at cars?
12? back at grounds
(i put 1:30 in trip description but I imagine we will be back before then, but please do not bank on that)

to bring:
sleeping bag (get a warm one, like 20 degrees or lower)
sleeping pad
sleeping bag liner
backpacking backpack
3-4 liters of water
rain jacket
backpack rain cover
headlamp
hiking shoes/boots
layers (avoid cotton, prob bring base layers, puffy jacket, fleece, etc. gloves and hat)
toiletries (and hand sani)
bowls and utensils
dinner, breakfast, snacks
trash bag to protect your stuff in your bag
stories? games? journal? book?

i’ll bring:
first aid kit
pocket rocket and fuel
cooking pot
tents just in case (we will distribute the parts so we are all carrying some part of it)
