Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Elliot Knob/Falls Hollow
Its supposed to be nice this weekend. The foliage is not completely over and this week’s nice weather isn’t rushing it.
While past peak, I think Elliot knob will still be a sweet hike with a rewarding vista.
It is a moderate 8.5 mile shuttle hike. If not enough people come to justify two vehicles, we will do it in an 8 mile, slightly more strenuous out and back. If I remember correctly, it is a little over an hour away plus time to set up the shuttle.

There is a (supposedly locked) fire tower at the top and the view is fantastic. there is a meadow near the top for a nice picnic lunch or if it is windy some protected areas we can drop to. The hike to the summit is on a ridgeline then we drop quick in elevation and head out through Falls Hollow.
Bring: lunch, snacks, WATER, sturdy shoes, a couple warmer layers for the summit (windbreaker specifically), $$ in case we stop for dinner, flashlight/headlamp (we shouldn’t need it but better safe than sorry)
Club provides: Ride in a car, oppotunity to get out of cville
I will add more as we get the cars. If someone has a gps, please bring it, i have had difficultly finding the starting trailhead but i have some coordinates. it will speed the start up a bit rather than looking and guessing.
